Things posted about Life, the universe and everything
With all the news and comments regarding Usain Bolt 100m world record this came to my mind:
Marco Van Basten is one of my childhood idols. He is maybe my all time favourite player who at that time played on my all time favourite team, 1990 AC Milan (Baresi, the young Maldini, Gullit, Rijkaard, … ). Unfortunately he got a serious injury which finished his career too soon. Actually Ibrahimovic has a similar style, maybe thats why currently he is my favourite player. Van Basten “impossible” goal:
“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”
— Jim Jarmusch, The Golden Rules of Filming
Thanks to ContraFactos & Argumentos I found this interesting article from the New York Times about the portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa, how portuguese people see themselves and how they are seen by others.
